Our Humble Story

At the heart of Goods of Culture is a shared commitment to honouring traditions and bridging cultural gaps. Founded by Issac, who comes from a family dedicated to serving the Australian Chinese community with culturally specific funeral services, the journey began in 2014 when he left his corporate role to create Scientia. This business was built on a foundation of knowledge and respect for diverse cultural traditions, providing tailored coffins and caskets that cater to individual preferences while serving the wider Australian market.

In the spirit of this cultural appreciation, Lindsay joined the family business in 2014 with a fresh perspective. With her background from England and no preconceived notions about Chinese funerals—aside from participating in rituals out of respect for her grandmother—she authored the insightful “Dying Questions” book. This resource demystified the funeral process for the community, providing clarity on options and emphasising the importance of honouring cultural customs during life’s final chapter.

Recognising the unique cultural gap in the market, Lindsay made the leap from her corporate marketing role in 2024 to help establish Goods of Culture. Together, she and Issac bring a unique “East-meets-West” perspective, seamlessly blending their diverse backgrounds with traditional Chinese values.

Our Commitment

In 2024, Goods of Culture was born, offering a curated collection of essential cultural goods that honours funerals, festivals, and key life events. Our mission is to make these traditions more accessible, educate the next generation, and continue learning together along the way.
